Returning to work after maternity leave - contract
I will be returning to work following maternity leave next month and I wondered if anyone could advise as to where I stand contractually.
My college who does the same job as me but is less experienced was made redundant recently as there is not enough work coming in at present to warrant both of us. Thankfully I still have a job to go back to.
My contract is currently for a four day week, with car allowance and my salary was reduced to reflect going from a five to a four day week. I haven’t had a conversation with my manager as yet but where do I stand if I am asked to return on a five day a week basis?
I want to be armed with the correct information as my childcare setup is only for the four days and should it be requested of me I know I will panic unless I have thought it through beforehand! I’m happy to be returning to work, but my baby will only be 4 months old and my other is 20 months so to me it is important that I still have three days a week with them as opposed to just the weekend.
Any insight would be gratefully received.
